- Inspect your sink and bath fixtures for any leaks
- Test your toilet tank for leaks
- Remove the tank lid, squeeze a few drops of food coloring inside, check in half an hour to see if the water bowl turns the color of the food coloring indicating a leak
- Flush toilets to make sure one quick push of the handle gives a complete flush
- Check drains to make certain they are protected by strainers to prevent clogs
- Examine and replace any dishwasher hoses that are broken or bloated
