What Is Backflow and Why Do You Need Backflow Testing?
Backflow is when there is a reversal of flow of nonpotable water contaminating and polluting the drinking water and city water of the potable water system.
Backflow prevention devices are installed to protect people and property from harm by preventing contaminates from entering the pipeline and making drinking water hazardous. Like any mechanical device, it may fail due to wear and tear and needs to be tested with calibrated gauge equipment by a certified specialist yearly to make sure it is maintained and functioning properly.

The Hidden Danger Under Your Sink
We often use space under kitchen and bathroom sinks as a storage area. We are constantly grabbing items and shoving them back into this “storage area” not taking much care in the process. We end up accidentally banging items into the under sink pipes. As these pipes are being knocked about, they are suspect to becoming loose and springing a leak.
If you notice a pipe that is loose, usually tightening the affected area will solve your problem. In the case of more extensive damage including a hole in a piece of pipe that is causing leakage, the pipe may need to be replaced. Being aware and mindful of your under sink pipes will greatly reduce your chance of having problems. If you do need assistance, contact Putman & Son’s Plumbing at (248) 652-0990, we are glad to help.
