When Should I Replace My Hot Water Heater?
Most homeowners wait too late before they replace their hot water heater. An old, leaky tank can cause damage to your home and pricey repairs. Even if you have homeowner’s insurance to pick up the tab, you still will need to pay your deductible, live with the destruction, and sometimes lose invaluable items forever.
You can avoid many of these problems by getting your tank inspected annually and consider replacing the tank once it is 6 – 8 years old. Hot water tanks do not last the lifetime of your home. Plus, new tanks have many benefits over old hot water heaters including that they are more efficient, have better hot water recovery rates, and the tankless hot water heaters take up less space.

“To all with much gratitude: On October 30, 2019, I discovered that we had no hot water. Our daughter went downstairs to see what she might learn about this and discovered that water was gushing from the top of the water heater. I called Putman & Sons Plumbing immediately as we have appreciated their services for many years. I explained what was happening and further explained that my husband is very seriously ill and is being cared for at home. We have caregivers who need access to hot water to properly care for him around the clock. I was deeply upset. I spoke with Michelle who explained that the crews had all been dispatched for the day but she would see what she could do. By that afternoon, we had a new larger lovely AO Smith hot water heater in place which was producing plenty of hot water for the care of our patient along with the needs of the family and additional caregivers on site. In addition, the technicians were sensitive to the situation and took great care to meet the largest and smallest details of this installation. They efficiently removed the old machine, hauled it away, installed the new machine, exchanged some faulty parts, removed and hauled away all debris from the job, and left the work site clean. I can’t imagine calling any other company than Putman & Sons Plumbing for all plumbing needs great and small. They are exceptionally professional and caring. Special thanks to Ralph, Jack, Rick, Justin, Darren and Michelle.

Weather Changes Effect Plumbing Systems
When the temperature drops below freezing, the risk of pipes becoming frozen and bursting increases. Whether your pipes are steel, copper or plastic, they can endure cracks which can be catastrophic to your home or business. Fall and Spring can be particularly harrowing because of temperature swings, dipping before the freezing mark and then warming up again. Freezing and thawing of pipes can create leaks and ruptures. If you need an inspection, contact Putman & Son’s certified plumbers. Being proactive, can save a lot of aggravation.
