Addressing hot water issues

Here is an example of Putman and Sons approach to address our client needs. Client told us that recently installed hot water tank was not keeping up hot water needs. Standard hot water tank was removed and replaced by a Smart 40 water tank that uses high efficiency boiler to heat domestic water. The solution proved to be answer to our client needs.
The Hidden Danger Under Your Sink
We often use space under kitchen and bathroom sinks as a storage area. We are constantly grabbing items and shoving them back into this “storage area” not taking much care in the process. We end up accidentally banging items into the under sink pipes. As these pipes are being knocked about, they are suspect to becoming loose and springing a leak.
If you notice a pipe that is loose, usually tightening the affected area will solve your problem. In the case of more extensive damage including a hole in a piece of pipe that is causing leakage, the pipe may need to be replaced. Being aware and mindful of your under sink pipes will greatly reduce your chance of having problems. If you do need assistance, contact Putman & Son’s Plumbing at (248) 652-0990, we are glad to help.

The Hazard Of Standing Water
Although, standing water is a common problem, it is not healthy and presents additional risk to children and pets. Inspect your yard for saturated areas. Standing water may be caused from leaky or broken pipes. The dampness may be from a damaged sewer line which may contain waste from the home. Standing water is a breeding ground for germs and attracts pesky and disease ridden mosquitoes and insects.

Bathroom Plumbing Tips
- Do not flush items other than toilet paper down the toilet. Other items do not easily dissolve and are the basis of most toilet clogs.
- Look around the base of the toilet to see if there are stains or peeling vinyl suggesting water damage. If the floor feels spongy, there may be rotting wood underneath.
- Check to see how quickly the toilet flushes.
- Press on the walls where tiles come in contact with the bathtub to see if they are loose or leaky. Soft walls are a sign of water damage behind the tiles.
